What’s new? After a ban on cryptocurrency mining in Kosovo, miners are actively looking for buyers to sell their equipment. Unlike other countries that have banned mining of digital assets, only a small part of miners have chosen to transport equipment abroad, Bloomberg reports.

What happened to cryptocurrency in Kosovo? Due to the low cost of electricity in the country, many people have taken up mining. This fact and bad weather conditions led to an energy and economic crisis. Late last year, the government declared a state of emergency for 60 days and limited the electricity supply. Subsequently, cryptocurrency mining was banned in Kosovo.

How do the crypto sphere representatives comment on the situation? Ardian Alaj, the co-owner of a crypto exchange in Kosovo, gave an interview in which he stated that he personally knows some of the miners selling their equipment. Alaj added:

“Moving operations abroad would create additional costs the local miners are not accustomed to.”
