What’s new? Crocs, a footwear company, has applied for trademark registration in the NFT format. The company intends to use the mark for commercial purposes, the application notes.
What else does the application say? Crocs has clarified that the registration of the mark is intended to cover the downloadable virtual media created using blockchain-based software technology and smart contracts. These are footwear, clothing, bags, and accessories.
As CoinDesk notes, having a trademark in the NFT format can be a lucrative new business for Crocs. At the end of 2021, the company announced plans to increase revenues by 67% year on year. And in January 2022, Crocs' management announced the organization’s digital focus but did not specify other details.
