What’s new? The team of the Chiliz blockchain, focused on the sports and entertainment industry, has partnered with the top professional football league in the United Arab Emirates, the UAE Pro League. In the first phase of the multi-year partnership, the parties will develop a Web 3.0 football simulator, as well as provide fans with the ability to purchase exclusive game balls whose authenticity is recorded using blockchain.
What else is known? The collaboration with Chiliz is part of the UAE Pro League’s strategic efforts to improve fan engagement and expand its presence globally.
Chiliz is a Layer 1 (L1) blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It focuses on decentralized applications (DApps), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), blockchain games (Play-to-Earn, P2E), Watch2Earn virtual sporting events, and ticket sales for live matches. Chiliz is the basis for the Socios platform for fan tokens of soccer clubs and launching loyalty programs for fans.
Chiliz and Socios CEO Alexandre Dreyfus said the collaboration with the UAE Pro League is a key milestone for blockchain development. “We’re committed to enhancing the fan experience through these innovative platforms and look forward to contributing to the growth and success of football” across the MENA region, Dreyfus added.
Chiliz partnered with South Korea’s professional football league in February, with Tottenham Hotspur FC previously releasing the SPURS fan token on the Socios platform.
