Crypto exchange Currency.com was subjected to a large-scale DDoS attack after leaving Russia

What’s new? The Belarusian cryptocurrency exchange Currency.com claimed an unprecedented DDoS attack, which took place several hours after it announced that it had stopped serving users from Russia. The platform’s owner Viktor Prokopenya blamed Russian hackers for the incident.

What else is known about the attack? Viktor Prokopenya said that it was not the first time the exchange had faced such attacks, but the scale of the latest one “was incredible: ten times anything we have ever seen.” The chief of Currency.com also condemned the decision of other platforms to continue working with customers from Russia.
What had happened before? On April 12, Currency.com users began receiving notifications that the exchange is suspending operation within the Russian Federation. The letter stated that the suspension of service will only affect residents of the Russian Federation.
Currency.com is a Belarusian exchange founded in 2018. More than 2000 tokenized assets and cryptocurrencies are available to users of the platform. There were around 500 000 Russian accounts registered on the platform at the time the service was discontinued.
