What’s new? The first brewery in the format of a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) will be opened in Munich, a German startup has been called MetaBrewSociety (MBS). The founders of the project plan to issue shares of the company in the form of NFTs. Holders of the non-fungible tokens will be able to participate in making business decisions, and will also be entitled to 100 free cans of beer a year, invitations to exclusive events, discounts on products, and other bonuses.
More details about the project. The startup was founded by a team of German brewers. According to the roadmap, a total of 6000 NFTs will be issued and they will be divided by the level of governance rights. For example, token holders will be able to decide which beer to brew and in which city to open their next shop. There will also be a virtual brewery in the metaverse, with products available for purchase in its shop with worldwide delivery.
“Beer Culture has been around for more than 500 years. MetaBrewSociety is here to lead the decentralized and innovation driven revolution of beer and the brewing industry in the real world, the Web 3.0 and the Metaverse,” the project’s creators write.
10% of the funds from the sold NFTs will be donated to charity. Token holders will also be able to choose the organization to which the funds will be transferred.
In October 2021 an NFT token of a cask of Macallan Scotch whiskey from 1991 was sold for a record $2,3 million on the Metacask platform.
At the end of April, the Welly fast-food chain transferred 15% of the company’s shares to the Shiba Inu (SHIB) community.
