A forum dedicated to methods of detecting, uncovering, and investigating crimes committed using cryptocurrency platforms was held in Kazakhstan.
According to the organizers, about 60% of such crimes are related to fraud, 25% to illegal activities of cryptocurrency exchange offices, and the remaining 15% to the legalization of criminally obtained income through digital assets. The total damage to citizens and companies exceeded 8 billion tenge ($15,3 million).
Successes of the Anti-Fraud Center
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan, Sanzhar Adilov, noted that a set of systematic measures to combat cybercrime is being implemented in coordination with other government agencies. An Anti-Fraud Center has been established in the country, and suspicious websites and phone numbers are being actively blocked. Since the beginning of the year, more than 26 000 Internet resources have been blocked, and more than 64 million suspicious calls have been prevented.
During the forum, participants discussed practical approaches to investigating cybercrime, shared their experiences in identifying digital traces, and considered measures to improve the qualifications of law enforcement officers.
In September, the President of Kazakhstan proposed the creation of a national digital asset fund to accumulate a strategic crypto reserve.
