Kawasaki will start using augmented reality technology from Microsoft

What’s new? Japanese technology corporation Kawasaki will start using Microsoft’s “industrial metaverse” technology. The company’s employees will wear a HoloLens headset with augmented reality (AR) technology, CNBC reports. The device overlays digital images on top of real things.

How will the headset be used? HoloLens, released in 2016, combines several Microsoft technologies, such as cloud computing. The device should help improve employee efficiency as well as communication between departments. The headset will be used in manufacturing, repair, and managing supply chains, as well as in the design of equipment.

What is known about Kawasaki? It is one of the world’s largest technology conglomerates, founded in 1896. Its headquarters are located in Tokyo and Kobe. The company specializes in the production of industrial robots, motor vehicles, agricultural machinery, trains, engines, and aircraft.

What happened before? Car manufacturers Nissan Motor and Toyota Motor began to harness the power of the metaverse. Nissan launched a virtual reality digital version of the Nissan Crossing gallery, which is located in the prestigious Ginza district of Tokyo. Toyota created a digital workspace for some departments and subsidiaries.

Also, sports car manufacturer Ferrari became interested in blockchain technologies. The company already set up a digital retail department that would focus on future projects in this area. Ferrari already launched an NFTcollection to coincide with the start of the Formula 1 season.
