The US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Crypto Task Force has set a date for hearings on financial privacy and oversight. The meeting will take place on October 17, 2025, at the SEC headquarters in Washington and will be open to the public. It will “bring together panelists who are at the forefront of developing technologies designed to protect individual privacy.”
The conference will focus on discussing key policy issues in financial oversight. The names of the speakers will be announced later. Commissioner Hester Peirce added:
“Understanding recent developments in privacy-protecting tools will assist the SEC and other financial regulators as we work on policy solutions in the crypto space.”
SEC launches new initiative to combat fraud
The Commission’s efforts to combat financial fraud have entered an active phase. News of the upcoming roundtable came just days after the regulator unveiled its Cross-Border Task Force to combat fraud and market manipulation by entities outside the United States.
Previously, the mission of the Crypto Task Force was defined as “developing a comprehensive and clear regulatory framework for crypto assets.”
On September 4, Chairman Paul Atkins announced he publication of the Spring 2025 Unified Agenda, which includes regulatory and deregulatory measures.
