South Korean university to issue NFT certificates to graduates

What’s new? Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea will give NFTs to its graduates. Diplomas and educational certificates will be linked to the tokens, the Yonhap news agency reports. A representative for the educational institution stated the NFT certificate is protected against loss or duplication and will act as an official document.

What is known about the university’s tokens? Three students at the university have already received their NFTs. The tokens themselves have been minted on the Klaytn blockchain. The university’s representative stated:

“Sungkyunkwan University plans to award awards and prizes to winners by producing them in the form of NFTs that give unique values and meanings.”

How is South Korea developing in the field of digital assets? Many industries and organizations in South Korea have started to adopt NFTs, with the country’s major companies Samsung, SK Hynix, and LG incorporating tokens into their new product line. The country is also in the second stage of CBDC testing.
