What’s new? South Korea's leading technology companies have presented plans to adopt blockchain technologies in 2022. According to the press releases, Samsung and LG have announced NFT enabled TVs.
What did Samsung representatives say? At the Consumer Electronics Show 2022 in Las Vegas, Samsung unveiled its line-up of the new NFT enabled smart TVs. The company’s representative stated:
“In 2022, Samsung is introducing the world’s first TV screen-based NFT explorer and marketplace aggregator, a groundbreaking platform that lets you browse, purchase, and display your favorite art — all in one place.”
In addition to the purchase and display features, digital art lovers can explore NFT's history and blockchain metadata.
What did the competitors respond? LG Electronics held a press conference a day after Samsung's announcement. Park Hyung-se, head of LG Electronics' Home Entertainment unit, said the company “definitely” plans to include NFT features in its TV line-up. Park added that LG Electronics' latest organic light-emitting diode TVs are optimized for displaying artworks.
