Information on the Google Cloud blog
How did the service appear? The SCC team set out to improve user security as part of their product development plan. The result was VMTD, a system that performs agentless memory scanning to help detect vulnerabilities such as cryptocurrency mining malware. . VMTD will gradually integrate with other Google Cloud segments in the coming months.
What does the blog say? Google Cloud’s representatives say that more and more companies are switching to cloud technologies, so security solutions need to be introduced.
“For example, in the latest Google Cybersecurity Action Team Threat Horizons Report, we saw 86% of compromised cloud instances were used to perform cryptocurrency mining. VMTD is one of the ways we protect our Google Cloud Platform customers against growing attacks like coin mining, data exfiltration, and ransomware.”
