What’s new? The announced feature of the Discord social platform called Linked Roles will include support for the Solana network. According to Solana representatives on Twitter, the project will be the first blockchain integrated into the platform and available to Discord users. The Linked Roles feature allows for authentication with accounts outside of Discord. Connections through third-party resources can be optionally displayed in a user’s account at their request.

Details on the new feature. Through the integration, users will be able to link their Solana wallets to identifiers on the Discord platform. The system will use metadata such as the number of transactions per second or the age of the wallet for matching. Discord moderators will be able to use these metrics to provide roles within their servers.

The implementation of the functionality of Linked Roles will give users the flexibility to prove their identity using blockchain technology and Solana wallets. An address on the network can now be displayed next to a user’s Spotify playlist or name on PlayStation, Xbox, etc.

The Solana blockchain surpassed Ethereum in user activity in Q2 2022, according to a report from analysts at Nansen. The average daily number of transactions on the Solana network was more than 40 million, while the Ethereum network handled about 1 million transactions. And in June, Solana developers unveiled a Web 3.0-focused, Android-based smartphone, Saga, which allows for the management of digital assets such as cryptocurrencies and NFTs.
