What’s new? According to Bloomberg, Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google will form the new group to study blockchain technologies and distributed registries. The unit will be led by Shivakumar Venkataraman, Vice President of Engineering at Google.
How is Google developing in the blockchain space? The digital giant has yet to launch the public blockchain projects, but it is actively developing in this field. Last year, Google Cloud partnered with Dapper Labs to work together on scaling the Flow blockchain. Google Pay partners with cryptocurrency exchanges such as Coinbase, and the payment service’s users will soon have the ability to store cryptocurrency.
Google’s president of commerce Bill Ready stated:
“Crypto is something we pay a lot of attention to. As user demand and merchant demand evolves, we will evolve with it.”
