What’s new? Nvidia has announced that it is investigating a cyberattack on its servers. The hacker group LAPSUS$ claimed responsibility for the hack, adding that they managed to steal 1TB of data. Now the hackers have started selling this information and software to unlock the extra hashrate of Nvidia graphics cards, PCmag reports.
What kind of data did the hackers get? The cybercriminals have already posted 19GB of stolen information online, including the source code of GPU drivers and a workaround to remove “Lite Hash Rate” restrictions. Nvidia has specifically released a line of RTX 3000 series graphics cards with limited power to combat mining, but users quickly found ways around the blocking.
The group has demanded that the company remove the restriction for all new video card models. If Nvidia did not comply, the hackers have threatened to leak additional data, some of which related to next-generation GPUs codenamed Ada, Hopper, and Blackwell.
