What’s new? The Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and the Ministry of Trade have reached an agreement to connect the CBI's payment platform to a market system. The new platform will allow businesses to make international payments using cryptocurrencies, Mehr reports.
What do the authorities say about the project? Alireza Peyman-Pak, Deputy Minister of Industry, said that the new payment mechanism will be completed “within the next two weeks.” He added that the government should not ignore the economic and business opportunities of the crypto industry.
“We are finalizing a mechanism of the system. This should provide new opportunities for importers and exporters to use cryptocurrencies in their international deals [...] Our economic actors will be able to easily and widely use the opportunities of cryptocurrencies.”
