What’s new? LockBit, a hacker group, which spread a ransomware virus of the same name, hacked the PayBito crypto exchange. The attackers stole the data and password hashes of the platform’s 100 000 users, as well as gained access to the administration’s personal information, Security Affairs reports.
What do the LockBit hackers demand? The gang demands a ransom from PayBito, otherwise, the attackers will release all the data they obtained into open access. The criminals have given the exchange until February 21 to think about it. The hackers have not named the ransom amount, but are likely to demand the money in BTC.
A similar situation occurred with the Wormhole exchange, the attackers managed to steal almost $320 million from the platform.
