What's new? According to CNBC, in the near future, the Mastercard payment giant may add support for cryptocurrency transactions to its customers worldwide.
What opportunities will be available? The new service is aimed at banks and stores that will be able to integrate digital assets to serve their customers. This refers to wallets, credit cards and loyalty programs. According to Sherri Haymond, Mastercard vice president, this will allow organizations to compete with cryptocurrency exchanges.
The Bakkt platform is responsible for the project’s technical implementation, which will deal with the issues of storing and selling of digital assets to Mastercard clients.
