What were the figures last year? Last year also saw a new high of 51 491 730 addresses registered. Since December 30, 2020, the number of non-zero wallets has increased by 38%, while this figure for bitcoin addresses is only decreasing.
How did NFTs affect the emergence of new addresses? This year has seen a real “boom” in the non-fungible tokens. This has played a significant role in the emergence of new addresses, as most NFTs are minted on the Ethereum blockchain. Matt Aaron, project lead at UniWhales DAO, stated:
“NFTs played a huge role in adding new wallets and users to the Ethereum ecosystem. For a good part of the year, OpenSea transactions were taking up more gas than any other decentralized application.”
