What’s new? In a deal with the blockchain game developer Splinterlands, musicians collaborating with Warner Music Group will be able to create and develop play-to-earn games that use cryptocurrency tokens. This is not WMG’s first move into cryptocurrencies. Last year, the company agreed with Genies to create avatars and NFT merchandise for its artists. In January this year, WMG partnered with the digital collectibles platform Blockparty.

How do the parties assess the partnership? Oana Ruxandra, Chief Digital Officer and Executive Vice President of Business Development at WMG said:

“I don’t think we can underestimate how massive the opportunity around P2E gaming is. Our partnering with Splinterlands brings attention to our artists and their music as we all work together to develop and support tokenized games.”

Jesse Reich, Splinterlands co-founder and CEO, stated:

“I look forward to new collaborations at the intersection of gaming, music, crypto, NFTs, DeFi, and blockchain.”

What is known about Splinterlands? Splinterlands was founded in 2018. Splinterlands’ tactical NFT card game currently boasts 1,8 million registered users and supports 450 000 players per day.
