What’s new? US crowdfunding platform GoFundMe has canceled fundraising for the legal defense of Tornado Cash crypto mixer founders Roman Storm and Alexey Pertsev. All contributions have been returned to the contributors. GoFundMe cited a violation of the terms of service. According to the document, Tornado Cash’s fundraising for legal fees could “expose GoFundMe, its employees or Users to any harm or liability of any type.” This was reported by Ryan Adams of Bankless Ventures.
What else is known? Adams pledged to send his initial $10 000 contribution back to Storm using cryptocurrencies. GoFundMe has confirmed that the funds will arrive in contributors’ bank accounts within three to seven business days.
In total, the platform has raised $30 000 in donations for the Tornado Cash founders. Storm and Pertsev intend to raise $1,5 million to fund legal fees. They are currently using the crypto funding platform JuiceBox, which has raised 316,75 ETH.
