STEPN to release NFT collection in collaboration with FC Atletico Madrid

What’s new? STEPN, a blockchain game, and Atletico Madrid, a Spanish La Liga football team, announced the launch of a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). It will include 1001 pairs of NFT sneakers for the STEPN app. A third partner is WhaleFin, a crypto trading and lending platform.

What is known about the collection? The release is scheduled for August 26. The collection includes 850 common, 140 uncommon, and 11 rare tokens. By default, NFT holders become participants in the drawing for tickets to Atletico Madrid’s home games, with a paid trip and a hotel stay. Those who buy uncommon sneaker tokens will receive prize jerseys from the club.
What is known about the companies? STEPN is a Move-to-Earn NFT game launched in August 2021. Users purchase sneakers in the form of NFT and can then earn from their physical activity. The project has two types of tokens: GST, for in-game payments, and GMT, governance tokens.
On August 20, 08:40 UTC, GMT is trading at $0,81, having lost 0,31% in price per day, according to Binance. The price of GST on Solana has dropped to $0,047 down by 2,9% in the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.
WhaleFin is a platform owned by digital asset provider Amber Group. It was launched in 2019. WhaleFin offers a personalized and secure service across dozens of digital assets in more than 150 countries.
In May, FC Manchester City announced the release of an NFT collection with 3D images of players, with four to be held drops at the end of the season. In July, cryptocurrency exchange Binance opened ticket sales in the form of NFT for FC Lazio’s games in the 2022/23 season.
In mid-August, Real Madrid and Barcelona FC filed a joint trademark application in the metaverse.
