Binance hires ex-president of Brazil’s Central Bank as adviser

What’s new? The team of cryptocurrency exchange Binance has added a new employee. Henrique Meirelles, the former head of the Central Bank and the Brazilian Minister of Economy, became the new employee. According to CoinDesk, Meirelles will take over as a member of the exchange’s advisory board.
What else is known about the new employee? Henrique Meirelles served as President of the Central Bank from 2003 to 2011 during the presidency of Lula da Silva. Meirelles was Brazil’s Economy Minister from 2016 to 2018 and participated in the first discussions on cryptocurrencies within a Group-of-20 event in 2017.
Binance confirmed Meirelles’ participation on the exchange’s new global advisory board. Other details of the collaboration will be made public soon.
In July, Ted Lin, chief growth officer of Binance, announced his departure from the company. He joined the team in September 2017, 2 months after the exchange was launched. Lin led the company’s growth, commerce, and education initiatives to develop the Binance ecosystem. After leaving the company, Lin plans to mentor and become a private investor in crypto startups.
