Bitfinex imposes ban on operations with exchange for Ontario-based users

What’s new? The Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange has published news about the cessation of the service to users from the Canadian province of Ontario. According to the exchange’s representatives, the restrictions will start to be implemented as soon as possible.

What is known about the service cessation dates? The Bitfinex materials state that the Ontario customers should start withdrawing funds from the open positions on the exchange immediately. And as early as March 1, 2022, the exchange will completely close access to the services for residents of the region. The accounts with zero balances will be closed and the active accounts will not be able to operate with the credit and margin trading markets.
It is known that Bitfinex will start imposing some of the restrictions as early as January. In this, the company’s representatives have not yet reported on any reasons for the bans on the exchange’s operation in Ontario.
