Coinbase hires former SEC commissioner advisor

What’s new? Thaya Knight, a former US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) employee has left her position as advisor to the commissioner to join Coinbase. The company will hire Knight as a senior public policy manager, Blockworks reports.
What did Knight do before? Thaya Knight was for about a year the advisor for Elad Roisman, SEC’s Commissioner, who also recently retired. Before joining the Commission, Knight spent a year as a senior advisor for policy and regulation for the Federal Housing Finance Agency. She was also an advisor to SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce.
How will the new employee help the company? As senior public policy manager, Knight will oversee regulation and changes in the regulatory framework of cryptocurrencies. Coinbase President Emilie Choi said at the Bloomberg summit last month:
“What we want to do as a company is make sure that we are raising our hand when we feel the rules of the road are not clear.”
