What’s new? Pat King, a member of the Freedom Convoy protest group, created the Freedom Convoy token (FCT) to support the demonstration. This decision was made after the Canadian government blocked donations sent in cryptocurrency, the National Post reports.
What will the new cryptocurrency give to the movement? Pat King has begun promoting the FCT token as an alternative solution to fund the Convoy. He encouraged protesters to download a cryptocurrency wallet and exchange fiat money for the new token. The token’s website says that 4% of each transaction will go to support the Freedom Convoy.
What are the views on the token? University of Toronto finance professor Andreas Park is concerned that the action may turn out to be a scam. However, Park claims that the asset is trading at a fairly low level, so there is nothing to fear yet.
