What’s new? Gazprom Neft-Aero, the operator of Gazprom Neft’s aviation fuel business, announced an increase in the number of airports using a blockchain platform to pay for aircraft refueling. A press release dated December 12 reports that two more airports, in Tomsk and Omsk, have joined the blockchain platform.
What else is known? Gazprom Neft’s blockchain platform was launched in 2021 and has served more than 9000 flights since its launch. Currently, 17 airports in different Russian regions are connected to it. Tomsk and Omsk airports will use it to provide refueling for UTair scheduled flights. The parties’ immediate plans include the introduction of digital payments in all cities where UTair operates.
The use of the blockchain platform improves the efficiency of refueling aircraft operations, reduces the overall time of service, and enables the mutual settlement of operations without prepayments. The document flow is done electronically, and the system meets all standards and is included in the Russian software register of the Ministry of Digital Development of Russia.
In June, BitRiver, the largest CIS data center operator for mining, entered into a partnership with Gazprom Neft to mine cryptocurrencies using associated petroleum gas (APG). Gazprom Neft will provide power to data centers, which BitRiver will deploy.
