What’s new? Hackers from the Belarusian Cyber Partisans group claim to have gained access to the passport info of every Belarusian citizen, including its president. A picture of Alexander Lukashenko’s passport has been turned into a non-fungible token (NFT) and put up for sale. This is reported by Cointelegraph.

What else is known about the incident? Hackers created an NFT collection called “Belarisuan Passports,” which they tried to sell on OpenSea on August 30 (Alexander Lukashenko’s birthday), but the platform quickly closed access to the collection, and now the criminals are looking for other options to sell the tokens. An OpenSea spokesperson said that the project violated rules regarding the disclosure of personal information about a person without their consent.
However, part of the community thought the hackers were spreading fakes. Users pointed to typos on the front page of the word “Republic” and a misspelling of “Aleksandr.”
In August, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus put the owner of the country’s largest illegal cryptocurrency exchange, Bitok.me, on the international wanted list. Vladislav Kuchinsky is accused of tax evasion on a particularly large scale (about $3,52 million).
In May, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus Dmitry Gora called cryptocurrencies “digital garbage,” adding that law enforcement agencies successfully seized digital assets involved in criminal activity.
