NAFI: Russians’ awareness of cryptocurrencies has increased 4 times in 5 years
The youth of Russia is more likely than others to note that cryptocurrencies are reliable and profitable

What’s new? The number of Russian citizens aware of digital assets is 67% in 2022, according to a report by the National Agency for Financial Studies (NAFI). By comparison, the number of Russians aware of cryptocurrencies was 17% in 2017. The agency surveyed 1600 respondents over the age of 18 in 53 Russian regions. The NAFI pointed out that the statistical error of the data does not exceed 3,4%.
What are the survey results? Only 8% of Russians consider cryptocurrencies to be a reliable investment, while 11% of respondents consider them to be profitable. The survey reveals that young people aged 18 to 24 are more likely than others to note that cryptocurrencies are reliable (23%) and profitable (24%).
What preceded it? Earlier, the Central Bank of Russia instructed financial institutions to increase oversight of cryptocurrency-related transactions. According to the decree, transactions involving digital assets should not violate Russia’s retaliatory sanctions against countries that have imposed economic restrictions on Russians.
