What's new? Nike has filed seven applications to register digital versions of its products’ trademarks. This is reported by CNBC with reference to US Patent and Trademark Office’s data.
What is known about the applications? Nike's documents show that it intends to sell digital versions of goods such as sneakers, clothing, etc. in the spaces under the general name of the metaverse. According to experts interviewed by CNBC, applications can be a way to protect the Nike brand in virtual worlds.
The company has already started searching for employees to work for the metaverse. At the end of October, it posted vacancies for a virtual shoe designer and other digital design experts.
