What’s new? The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK reported that it considers the spread of rumors of “non-existent” cryptocurrency theft a serious threat and a challenge to its sovereignty. North Korea claims that the states themselves organize cyber attacks on its citizens and allied states.
The appeal of the DPRK Foreign Ministry
What has the DPRK been accused of? Chainalysis previously published a report saying that the North Korean hackers stole about $3955 million in cryptocurrency in 2021. The UN report also says that the DPRK uses the profits from cyber attacks to fund nuclear programs and ballistic missile development. North Korea is believed to have conducted nine test launches of live ammunition in January this year.
