What’s new? The Irish police have arrested a 60-year-old resident of Dublin for cryptocurrency fraud. The pensioner pretended to be a professional crypto broker and one of the gullible users transferred 1 million EUR to the woman, the local publication DublinLive reports.
What are the details of the incident? Immediately after receiving a large sum, the pensioner stopped contacting her “client.” The investigation revealed that the Irish woman had nothing to do with crypto investing.
It took the police several months to track down the fraudster with the help of banks. The woman was detained, but she had already managed to transfer some of the stolen funds abroad in the form of cryptocurrency. She now faces a prison sentence.
