What’s new? Yuri Chikhanchin, the head of Rosfinmonitoring, stated at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin that online games and in-game currencies have become a new way to finance terrorism. This is reported by the RIA Novosti news agency.

What concerns did Chikhanchin raise? According to the official, there are two problems at the moment namely lone wolf terrorists, who have their own financing system, and youth movements that use the tools for financial transactions.
“Today there is such a system, called in-game currency when shooting games are played on the Internet, so to speak, and instead of paying for weapons, the payment for the player goes to the terrorists. This is a serious problem. We are now trying to build a model of terrorist behavior, together with the FSB,” Chikhanchin stressed.
However, the head of Rosfinmonitoring has not yet specified which games and in-game currencies are in question.
