What’s new? Experts of the analytics company Santiment have recorded a sharp jump in the number of addresses with a non-zero balance in the blockchain of the Dogecoin (DOGE) meme token. According to them, the indicator “has been growing at the fastest rate in the network’s decade long history.”

What else is known? Over the past two weeks, 413 800 new addresses with balances ranging from 0,001 to 1 DOGE have appeared on the network. Since January 22, the figure has increased by 7,2%, which is a record since the blockchain was launched on December 6, 2013.

At the same time, the coin’s rate fell by 23% from the local peak recorded on December 9. Then the asset reached $0,1, which was a 12-month-high. At the time of writing the news, DOGE is trading on Binance at $0,07829, having lost 1,16% over the day.

In May last year, the Cardinals upgrade was launched in the Dogecoin network and the DRC-20 standard, an analog of the Bitcoin Ordinals protocol, which allows the creation of fungible tokens and NFTs in the network of the first cryptocurrency.
