What’s new? Sberbank has launched Russia’s first educational project in the metaverse called KoMeta. The program is created for aspiring entrepreneurs and teenagers from 12 years old who are interested in technological trends and science. Regular lectures, games, networking sessions, and music concerts will take place in KoMeta, and a library of video content will be organized as well. It is planned that by the end of the year, more than 35 000 unique users will visit the virtual space.
What else is known about the project? KoMeta participants will be able to create digital avatars, communicate with other users, complete quests in five connected spaces and receive gifts from Sberbank and partner companies.
One can access the project from a mobile device or a PC without registering or downloading a special application.
Alexander Vedyakhin, the First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board at Sberbank, said that the goal of KoMeta is to involve as many young people as possible in the topic of business and technology. According to him, the format of the metaverse is perfect for this.
Earlier, Sberbank CEO Herman Gref said that by 2030, blockchain technologies will provide up to 10% of the world’s GDP, highlighting the promising direction of the tokenization of resources.
Sberbank is currently working on its own decentralized finance (DeFi) blockchain platform, which will be compatible with the Ethereum network. This will allow developers to freely transfer smart contracts and projects between the bank’s network and open blockchains. The platform is expected to launch by May of this year.
