What’s new? On June 5, the STEPN project team reported that the application was subjected to a massive DDoS attack for several hours. As the project’s representatives noted, securing the servers and recovering may take up to 12 hours. They recommended not to use the app during this period, as the work-outs may not be recorded properly. As of June 6, 13:10 UTC, no updates on this situation were published on the project’s Twitter.
1/2We have been under multiple DDOS attacks in the past hours. Securing the servers and recovery may take anywhere from 1 to 12 hours. We recommend you take some rest during the maintenance or otherwise the work-outs may not be recorded properly.— STEPN | Public Beta Phase IV (@Stepnofficial) June 5, 2022
STEPN is a Move-to-Earn NFT game launched in August 2021. Users purchase sneakers in the form of NFT and can then earn from their physical activity. The game has two types of tokens: GST, in which payouts take place, and GMT governance tokens.
As of June 6, 13:10 UCT, the GMT token is trading at $1,02, up 8,22% per day, according to Binance. The price of GST on Solana rose to $0,66 by 6,5% in the last 24 hours. On the BNB Chain blockchain, the coin costs around $0,85.
Earlier, STEPN reported that it would stop providing GPS services to users in mainland China from July 15. In this regard, they would not be able to earn as the app tracks physical activity and movements.
In April, the Belarusian crypto exchange Currency.com claimed a large-scale DDoS attack a few hours after announcing it would stop serving users from Russia.
