What’s new? Thumbay Group, a private healthcare organization based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will launch a virtual hospital in the metaverse. The project will be a full-fledged medical facility where users will be able to consult with doctors using their avatars. According to Policy House, Thumbay has hired an advisor company that will train hospital staff to use the metaverse app.
More details about the project. The founder of Thumbay Group Dr. Thumbay Moideen said that the opening of the virtual hospital is scheduled for October 2022. No prices have been set yet for the services of “digital doctors” but they would likely be in line with the fee for regular online consultations, Moideen added.
The real hospital has already implemented AR and VR technologies, which help patients take their minds off the arduous process of treatment. Thumbay Group's vice president Akbar Moideen revealed that the company will soon integrate artificial intelligence into the hospital’s system to simplify the identification and maintenance of clients’ medical records. Also, if the client goes to the pharmacy, the system will inform the pharmacist of their prescribed medication.
Earlier, The Dental Design Studio, a British dental practice chain, bought a plot in The Sandbox metaverse to conduct a virtual practice. Patients can create their own avatars and customize their appearance right down to their teeth, as well as get a consultation with a doctor.
