SEC opens vacancies for cryptocurrency and cybersecurity professionals

What’s new? The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has begun searching for attorneys in New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., for the crypto assets and cybersecurity unit of the Division of Enforcement. According to the announcement, the employees will be responsible for conducting complex, fast-moving investigations” related to cryptocurrency securities and cybersecurity issues.

What else is known about the jobs? Other job duties for candidates include drafting subpoenas or document requests, interviewing witnesses, evaluating evidence, and more. The salary for the division’s general attorney position ranges from $140 830 to $259 590 a year.
On March 29, SEC Chairman Gary Gensler supported US President Joe Biden’s request for a record $2,4 billion for the regulator to fight abuses in the crypto industry.
On April 6, the SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee called for increased aggressive enforcement action against the industry. The authors of the appeal stressed that they consider almost all cryptocurrencies to be securities.
