Accenture: 52% of wealthy Asian investors own cryptocurrencies

What’s new? Analytics firm Accenture has published a report with data on the share of large Asian investors holding cryptocurrencies in their portfolios. Thus, 52% of investors owned digital assets in the first quarter of 2022. Analysts predict an increase in their number to 73% by the end of the year. More than 3 200 investors with $100 000 to $1 million in capital from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand took part in the survey.

What other data does the report contain? Cryptocurrencies and other digital assets account for an average of 7% of surveyed investors’ portfolios. Cryptocurrencies have a larger share than foreign currencies, commodities, and collectibles, and in some cases exceed the amounts invested in venture capital and hedge funds. In this, investors from Thailand and Indonesia have the highest percentage of digital assets in their portfolios.

In December 2021, Grayscale Investments published a study of US investors’ views on bitcoin. The report showed a steady increase in interest, awareness, and use of BTC and other digital currencies.

26% of respondents reported that they already own bitcoin, while 59% want to invest in it. 87% of BTC holders also own one or more altcoins.
