What’s new? Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has announced the start of ticket sales in the form of NFT for Italian football club Lazio’s games in the 2022/23 season. Fans will use tokens to visit Rome’s largest sports venue, Stadio Olimpico, and watch the team’s home games. In addition to access to the stadium, ticket holders will benefit from numerous discounts, including 10% off any merchandise sold in the Lazio store and 20% off tickets for the club’s matches in the Europa League, an annual competition under the auspices of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).

What are the other benefits of NFT tickets? Digital ticket holders will also have the opportunity to win fan tokens and access to a number of exclusive events. To buy a ticket, Lazio fans will have to open a Binance account and switch to the Binance Fan Token Platform. The crypto exchange claims that tickets in the form of NFT will help solve the problems of the traditional ticket distribution system. For example, the tokens would avoid “double” ticketing, where one seat at the stadium is sold twice, as well as prevent forgery of tickets and problems related to loss or damage.
Previously, Binance entered into an exclusive multi-year NFT partnership with Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The famous footballer plans to release several NFT collections to give followers the opportunity “to own an iconic piece of sports history.” In October 2021, the platform and the Lazio football club signed a cooperation agreement worth 30 million EUR for a period of 2 years.
