What’s new? Chicago-based options exchange Cboe Global Digital plans to expand the list of digital assets traded on the platform. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing statements from Cboe CEO Edward Tilly. At the moment, the exchange offers Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and the USD Coin (USDC) stablecoin.
What else is known? The addition of the new tokens is designed to meet the demand for reliable counterparties that rose from customers after the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange. However, according to Tilly, the company will be cautious about new listings because of the uncertain situation with the regulation of the cryptocurrency market.
Back in late 2017, Cboe made a groundbreaking move by introducing a cash-settled futures product but stopped supporting it after the start of the bear market in 2018. Cboe later returned to the market, bought crypto derivatives company ErisX, and created the Cboe Digital division. In August 2022, Cboe added large trading companies Jump Crypto, Robinhood, and DRW to its division’s list of partners.
On January 30, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange will launch price indices for tokens of the Axie Infinity and Decentraland metaverses, as well as for the token of the Socios fan blockchain platform.
