What’s new? The Spanish autonomous region of Catalonia plans to create its own metaverse called Cataverse. The digital space will be linked to the Catalan language and culture. This was revealed in an interview with Cointelegraph by Daniel Marco, director-general of innovation.

What else is known about Cataverse? The Catalan metaverse will allow local organizations to implement cultural projects in the digital world. According to Marco, the government is actively working to create a “fully digital economy inspired by the physical world.” A number of programs have already been implemented to support young professionals at universities, and the capital of the autonomy, Barcelona, is set to become the region’s hub for digital innovation.
Earlier, Catalan FC Barcelona announced the creation of its own metaverse with its token and NFTs. The president of the club Joan Laporta said that entering the cryptocurrency market would help Barcelona a in the fight against clubs owned by big corporations and investors.
