What did Bastrykin say? According to the Chairman of SKR, the owners of the digital assets should not remain anonymous, because cryptocurrencies may be used to finance terrorism. Bastrykin added that, in general, the circulation of digital currency requires further legal regulation.
What had happened before? In December, Bastrykin said that cryptocurrencies should be recognized as property, and the procedure for their confiscation should be introduced into legislation.
In light of the SKR Chairman’s statement, Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov clarified that Russia is currently developing suitable laws. They aim to legally enable the arrest of virtual assets that are in illegal circulation.
