What’s new? According to The Guardian, there may soon be a new city in the ocean that will be home to bitcoin and cryptocurrency supporters. The city will be built on the island of Satoshi, located between Australia and the Fiji archipelago.
What else is known about the project? The idea of creating a bitcoin island belongs to well-known crypto investor Anthony Welch. For its implementation, he acquired the island of Lataro, which he then renamed Satoshi.
Welch plans to build a smart city on the island and attract up to 21 000 new residents who are supporters of cryptocurrencies. It is known that the city will not charge taxes on profits or dividends. In addition, citizenship on the island will be issued in the form of an NFT. However, this does not exclude the need to obtain residency from the state of Vanuatu, in whose jurisdiction the island is located. The public opening of the new city is scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.
