Message on the El Salvador government’s website
What is the cooperation between the parties? The Salvadoran government and AlphaPoint agreed to work together in December 2021. Since then, the startup’s developers have been actively working on the Chivo application, its infrastructure, and its interface.
Chivo’s users have previously complained about the loss of assets from their wallets.
What is known about Chivo? At the moment, the wallet is used by 4 million residents of El Salvador. Now the wallet is focused on everyday BTC transactions.
In the future, the government is going to add the function of paying utility bills directly from the wallet. In addition, it plans to install 1500 bitcoin ATMs across the country.
