What’s new? Dubai-based Emirates Airlines has unveiled plans to expand into the metaverse and launch its own NFTs. Emirates’ non-fungible tokens will be both collectible and utility-based. The first projects are expected to launch in the coming months, according to the airline’s press release.

What else does the release say? The airline will repurpose its pavilion at the Expo site in Dubai into an innovation center. The revamped center will aim to attract talent from around the world to implement the airline’s future projects related to metaverses, NFTs, and Web 3.0. Emirates Airlines Chairman Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum stated that the company invests heavily in developing products and services using cutting-edge technologies.
What preceded it? Last year, Emirates Airlines became the first airline to launch its own VR app on the Oculus Store. Using the app, users can tour aircraft cabins remotely.
