What’s new? The FTX cryptocurrency exchange has announced its entry into the Australian cryptocurrency market. The company has created a division, FTX Australia, to provide services to residents of the continent, which include cryptocurrency trading, derivatives, and other products. This announcement was made on Twitter by FTX CEO and founder Sam Bankman-Fried.
How did events develop? The crypto exchange has received the license to provide financial services from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). FTX Australia will be headquartered in Sydney. Commenting on this development, Fried said:
“We’re excited to bring FTX’s innovative products and services to the Australian marketplace. The establishment of FTX Australia should provide all our local clients with the confidence of trading on a registered and licensed platform.”
What had happened before? Last week, the exchange received a license from the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority in Dubai. The company plans to establish a regional headquarters in Dubai.
