What's new? Interest in bitcoin in 2022 is down 45% compared to April of last year, when its price reached $64 800, according to Binance. As of April 22, the price of BTC stands at $40 300. According to Google Trends, countries such as El Salvador, the Netherlands, and Nigeria have been the most interested in cryptocurrency.
Interest in bitcoin. Bitcoin reached the peak of global popularity in December 2017. After that, interest in the first cryptocurrency decreased significantly and showed only a few spikes in January, February, and May 2021. Later, the frequency of search queries went down again.
According to Google Trends, interest in cryptocurrencies in the USA dropped 80% over the year. Americans have been losing interest in digital assets since late 2021.
The downward trend reflects the drop in popularity of a search query compared to others, as Google Trends provides relative rather than absolute figures.
