What’s new? Uzbekistan’s State Security Service has shut down an illegal cryptocurrency mining farm in the Syrdarya region. During its existence, the farm has mined $7,7 million worth of digital assets. This is reported by the UZA website.
What is known about the violation? According to the law enforcers, the farm had been operating since August 2020. A total of 1491 units of mining equipment and 9280 video cards were found on the premises where the facility was located. All the devices were confiscated.
The farm was not registered and electricity for mining digital assets was obtained at an undervalued price through prior collusion with a local supplier. A criminal case was opened as a result of the violations found.
In August 2021, an illegal mining farm worth around $860 000 was discovered in the same area of Uzbekistan. The equipment had been in operation for an extended time, illegally consuming $24 100 worth of electricity.
