What’s new? An updated user agreement of Bitfly, the operator of Ethermine’s largest mining pool, states that it will stop providing services to customers from Russia and Belarus. According to the company, this decision was taken under the law on money laundering in the financial markets. Bitfly also lists Afghanistan, Cambodia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, and the DPRK as blocked countries.
How do companies restrict Russia? Due to the military operation in Ukraine, many major companies have suspended their operations in the Russian Federation. Already there have been disruptions to the NFT marketplace OpenSea and the MetaMask cryptocurrency wallet.
The exchanges such as Kuna, WhiteBIT, and CEX.io have blocked all Russian IP addresses. Brian Armstrong, the head of Coinbase, stated that he will decide to block Russian users based on the US authorities’ decision.
