What’s new? A Washington analytical center fears that North Korean hackers may use P2E games for their own purposes. “Play to earn” is an ideal opportunity for Pyongyang to illegally obtain cryptocurrency to fund national weapons programs, The Diplomat reports.
What are the fears in Washington? North Korean hackers have stolen $400 million worth of digital assets in the past year. So far, the attackers have not been seen playing P2E games, but given the DPRK’s interest in cryptocurrency, Washington is already expecting an attack.
If it happens, the experts speculate that the hackers will use code that automates in-game tasks to facilitate earnings.
